There’s only one time a year when hearing “that dress looks like a carpet” is a compliment, and it’s almost here! This year’s 4th-annual International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Georgia Dressed competition is pairing Atlanta’s most talented interior designers and architects with industry manufacturers, and Lamin-Art is co-sponsoring.
Every year, the competition challenges 20 design teams to construct a runway-ready, couture garment made almost entirely of construction finish materials, including wall coverings, floor tile, carpet, vinyl, rubber base, contract furniture, paint and more. In a new twist, this year’s theme is “Dressed in Seasons: thru World-Changing Events.”
As one of 50 sponsors, Lamin-Art is working with two design teams. And while we don’t know what the final design concept will look like just yet, one thing’s for sure: the teal will have plenty of metallic and wood print material to work with.
“Lamin-Art is one of the event’s Spring Sponsors, as well as a design team sponsor,” says Tara Harris, architectural representative for Lamin-Art and Industry IIDA. “Our involvement also includes donating large samples of material to the teams, including our Metal-Art and our Premium Wood Prints. I’ve seen the sketches and they’re beautiful!”
Nearly 600 people in the A+D community are expected to attend the fashion extravaganza at the Atlanta History Center on September 26 for what has become the IIDA Georgia Chapter’s largest annual event. And while the event will be a unique way to network and showcase manufacturers’ material, it also acts as a fundraiser, benefiting Dressed for Success. We hope to see you there!
