Grades and Sizes

Lamin-Art high-pressure decorative laminate is available for specification in the following grades (thicknesses):

GP48 [Standard Grade]: (thickness: .048”/1.2mm) The most commonly used grade; recommended for both horizontal and vertical applications where maximum impact resistance and durability are required. Standard Grade material can be cold bent to a radius no smaller than 12”. Standard Grade can be formed with heat to a radius of 4”.

GP28 [Vertical Grade]: (thickness: .028”/0.7mm) Suitable for both horizontal and vertical applications where the economies of a thinner material are desirable and impact-resistance is not as critical. The surface durability of Vertical Grade material is the same as thicker grades. Vertical Grade material can be cold bent to a radius no smaller than 7”and formed with heat to a radius no smaller than 5/8”.

Due to their physical characteristics, we do not recommend forming Pearlescence and Signature Collection items with heat regardless of grade.

Note: Many Lamin-Art items are also available in a post-forming grade (.028” thickness). Post-forming grades are manufactured using a different kraft paper and resins than our standard laminates to achieve a pliable sheet that can be heated and formed to a radius smaller than 5/8”. Click here for more information.

GP40 [Veneer-Art Grade]: (thickness: .040”/1.0mm) This is the standard grade for our Veneer-Art line of high-performance wood veneers. It is suitable for both horizontal and vertical applications where maximum impact resistance and durability are desired.

Lamin-Art decorative laminates are available in the following sheet sizes. Please note other sheet sizes may be available upon request.

4’ x 8’
4’ x 10’

Finishes
Our high-pressure decorative laminates are available for specification in a wide variety of finish options. Please note: not all options are available for all products. Please consult our Stock List or the Products and Samples section for detailed information on available finishes for each item (s) in our line.
Textured (T)A non-directional matte finish with moderate reflective qualities. (LRV 10.0)
SUPERMATTE (SM)A textured laminate with low-reflective properties. (LRV 2.0)
Velva-tex (VT)A soft finish similar to hand-rubbed oiled hardwood. (LRV 16.0)
Abacá (F)A naturally dimensional texture resulting from recycled banana fibers randomly sprinkled across the sheet. (LRV 10.0)
GLOSS (G)A smooth, mirror-like Finish suitable for applications where high reflectivity is desired (LRV100.0). Recommended for vertical / low wear applications.
CHRYSALIS® (A)A gently-etched pattern which creates a brilliance and texture similar to that of brushed metal (LRV 10.0). Recommended for vertical / low wear applications.
Fine Grain (FG)A subdued wood finish with low reflective properties featuring a vertical graining with a subtle pore structure. (LRV 9.0)
Crisscross (L)A subtle tactile grid of fine intersecting lines running lengthwise and widthwise along the sheet (LRV 15.0). Recommended for vertical / low wear applications.
CATALYST® (B)A spiral-etched pattern which creates a brilliance and texture similar to that of brushed metal. (LRV 18.0)
Corrugated (C)A dimensional surface of alternating furrows and ridges running lengthwise along the sheet, featuring a soft finish with low reflective properties. (LRV3.0) Recommended for vertical / low wear applications.
Relief (F, U)A dimensional, in-registration texture resulting From the materials imbedded in the laminate sheet. (Abacá LRV 10.0, Burlap LRV 6.0).
Diamond (D)A polished, high-gloss finish for a refined, elegant effect (LRV 90-110)
Vellum (E)A parchment like, matte finish, that is soft to the touch (LRV 12-16)
Oyster Shield High-Wear Protection

Lamin-Art high-pressure decorative laminate is available for specification in the following grades (thicknesses):

WHAT IS OYSTER SHIELD HIGH-WEAR PROTECTION?

Using an exclusive manufacturing process, our Oyster Shield High-Wear Protection™ increases the surface abrasion resistance without sacrificing their beauty. It’s available on select Pearlescence® laminates. The result: Pearlescence® laminates with Oyster Shield High-Wear Protection™ are suitable for both horizontal and vertical surfaces. Please note that, according to the NEMA manual: “The scratch resistance of HPDL is influenced by lightness and gloss. Lighter colors and textured surfaces have better scratch resistance than darker, smoother colors. Therefore, the choice of color and finish should be made to suit the particular application for which it is intended.”

DESIGN TIPS

For installations with both vertical and horizontal surfaces, we recommend specifying our regular Pearlescence® product for the vertical surface and a matching or corresponding pattern with Oyster Shield High-Wear Protection for the horizontal surface. This allows you to maximize the visual impact of your design while providing the durability you need. Another option to consider is specifying our Chrysalis™ line, which features the look and feel of brushed metal, for the vertical surfaces.
