Sustainability and Interior Design Advocate Named VP of Sales by Lamin-Art

Georgy Olivieri Says She’ll Create Value for Design Process

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (Nov. 9, 2012) Lamin-Art, Inc., the leading designer of premium decorative laminate and wood veneer surfaces in North America, today announced that it has named Georgy Olivieri its vice-president of sales.

Lamin-Art President Donald Krog praised Olivieri, a LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional) since 2001, as a nationally known “advocate for the profession of interior design and interior design education.”

He added, “Georgy has been involved in specification sales for high-end architectural products for many years.” She was most recently with Kimball Office as director of architecture, design and sustainability strategies,” Krog said, adding that he views her credentials as enriching Lamin-Art’s commitment to providing its design and architectural clients with service and materials they need to fulfill their visions.

Before Kimball Office, Olivieri operated Go Initiatives, her own sustainability consultancy serving the contract industry. Lamin-Art was a client.

"During my discovery process, I saw a large sample of a Lamin-Art wood-print laminate and immediately knew what set the company apart from the competition,” she said. “There is no comparison. The company has built its unique niche based on extraordinary designs and attention to detail. I was sold on the company, its leadership and vision from the beginning of our relationship, and I’m thrilled by the opportunity to assume a role in growing the business."

Olivieri, who has written extensively about the interior design profession, added, "We will serve as the highly regarded resource designers value and deserve, as true partners in the design process." Her writings have shared the latest ideas on the state of the interior design profession, design education and the value of design to all businesses. These articles have appeared in Metropolis, Perspective, Contact, Workspace Design and officeinsight.

With Beverly Russell, acclaimed former editor of Contract magazine, Olivieri developed in 2001 “Design Does Matter,” an anthology of essays on design and its value to business written by thought leaders in the profession, such as architects Frank Gehry and Frank Duffy. The work promoted design as a powerful tool of differentiation in the competitive world of business and has been followed by additional volumes.

She also developed “Leadership in Design,” two exclusive continuing education modules dedicated to helping interior design professionals, and several other courses. These included Business Etiquette for the Design Professional, which has been taught across the country. Her ongoing efforts to provide education to the design industry led the Council for Interior Design Accreditation to honor her with its 2009 Merit Award. A former member of the Council’s Board, she remains an active advocate.

Olivieri holds a Bachelor of Arts in interior design from the University of Illinois and a Master of Business Administration in marketing from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She has served as an adjunct professor teaching leadership in the MBA program for Ferris State University and its Kendall College of Art and Design.

Olivieri served as Vice President of Architecture and Design at Haworth and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for Teknion.
