Oh, Canada

Lamin-Art's signature customer service is now spreading north of the border to eastern Canada.  Our line of exclusive, premium decorative surfacing materials are now available direct from our Canadian manufacturing facility to customers in Ontario, Quebec, and the Atlantic Provinces.

As a result, Lamin-Art products will no longer be sold through distribution by McFadden's Hardwood and Hardware.  We believe customers in eastern Canada will benefit from our enhanced level of customer service including shorter delivery times, straightforward pricing-ground freight included, and timely and accurate information and technical advice regarding Lamin-Art HPL.  Customers in western Canada will still be serviced by our authorized distributor PJ White Hardwoods with branches in Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton and Calgary.

In addition, Lamin-Art is pleased to announce that Prolific Marketing Inc. - "Delivering Design"  will be representing our exclusive brand of high-pressure decorative laminates to the Architectural and Interior Design Community in Ontario.  Prolific Marketing is well known within the Ontario A/D community for their product knowledge and service with regards to placement and maintenance of specification tools offered by some of the industry's leading suppliers, as well as their quick sample shipping service.  Lamin-Art is pleased to acquire their expertise and anticipate that their exceptional service will enhance your experience when specifying Lamin-Art for your commercial interiors projects.

To pre-arrange a visit by Prolific within the greater Toronto area, contact them directly at 905-855-8713.
  To request samples, contact Prolific toll free at 800-323-7624, by e-mail at laminart@prolificmarketing.ca, or place your sample request online at www.laminart.com.

Bilingual from Coast to Coast

In order to better serve our bilingual Canadian neighbors, we thought it would be a good idea to bone up on our French.  So, our website, www.laminart.com, is now available in both English and French.  We've made it easier than ever to find Lamin-Art premium decorative surfacing materials, request samples, and download technical information in both languages.  Other features of the website include:

  • An online wallrack with an intuitive product search function;
  • A portfolio of projects where Lamin-Art design-statement products have been installed;
  • And an RSS feed to get the latest news from Lamin-Art.

Also, our multicultural Customer Service team is now also able to answer your call in French, as well as in English and Spanish, feel free to call us up at the usual number, or write to customerservice@laminart.com should you have any questions.

We hope that our Canadian customers will appreciate having an easy access to information that is relevant to them.  Please send us your comments at webmaster@laminart.com should you have any suggestions on how to further improve our website and look for more exciting changes to www.laminart.com in the coming months!

Existing Hotels Can Be Green Too

The Hospitality Design Expo in Las Vegas is just around the corner.  This year, the show shines a spotlight on the future of green design and sustainable building practices for hotels and resorts.  The inaugural Green Day conference will take place on May 14th; a full day of informative sessions dedicated to "greening" the hospitality industry.

According to the USGBC, only 6 U.S. hotels are currently LEED certified, but there are 100 more waiting to be evaluated and hundreds more in the concept and design stage.  The majority of these projects are seeking certification under the standards outlined in the LEED for New Construction Rating System.  But the USGBC believes the real growth opportunities lie in retrofitting existing hotels to be more environmentally friendly.  The USGBC indicates the existing building market is 80 times larger than the new construction market.  Making those existing buildings smarter and more efficient can have a great impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Recent changes to its LEED for Existing Building rating system, now called LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance, were made with an eye towards attracting the interest of leading hotel companies to jump on the green hotel bandwagon.  The revised standards address issues such as site maintenance, water conservation, indoor air quality, energy saving programs, recycling facilities and programs, purchasing practices, and green cleaning.

For more information on the LEED rating system for both new construction and existing buildings, visit the USGBC website
