Lamin-Art Joins AWI

Lamin-Art is proud to announce that it has been recently accepted as a member of the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI).  This not-for-profit organization made up of manufacturers of architectural woodwork, industry suppliers, and design professionals from both the U.S. and Canada is committed to improving industry standards, providing technical assistance for design professionals, and researching new and better methods for engineering, fabricating, finishing, and installing fine architectural woodwork.  The AWI publishes the Architectural Woodwork Standards: the premier resource for specification, construction, and installation of interior architectural woodwork.  The latest edition of these standards was released just last month.  We look forward to introducing ourselves and getting to know AWI members and fellow suppliers at the Fall Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. October 13-17.

Veneer-Art Launch Coming Soon

As if the 25th anniversary of our Pearlescence collection wasn't enough, Lamin-Art is busy preparing a makeover of another one of our signature product lines.  Next month, look for a revitalized Veneer-Art line to find its way into your design library.  This unique high-performance wood veneer combines all of the natural beauty and classic richness of real wood with the superior durability, scratch and stain resistance of high-pressure laminate...and is just as easy to install.  We'll have more information in next month's edition of The Source, but you can be among the first to learn about this exciting new launch by scheduling a product presentation with your local Lamin-Art Architectural Representative today.

Continuing Education Program Now Qualifies for AIA/CES Credits

Lamin-Art's Continuing Education Program "Creative Advancements in the Manufacture and Application of HPL" is now eligible for credit through the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Continuing Education System (CES).  The program was designed to educate architects and interior designers on the flexibility of high-pressure decorative laminate as both a design-statement and functional surfacing material.  Participants should come away from the one hour program with a new appreciation for the versatility of HPL, as well as some creative ideas in which it can be utilized beyond standard countertop and casework applications.  ASID and IIDA members can also earn credit for this presentation through the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ).  To schedule the program, please contact your local Architectural Representative.

Eco-Enable: Green Tip #11

With Halloween right around the corner, we thought we would offer up a few tips for making this year's trick-or-treating a little less scary for the environment:

1. Have trick-or-treaters carry reusable bags or containers.  Cloth or canvas shopping bags and pillowcases also make good environmentally friendly alternatives to paper bags or molded plastic jack-o-lanterns.

2. Make costumes from old clothes and other items around the house.  An old bed sheet still makes a great ghost costume.

3. Give out organic treats, produced locally if possible.  Better yet, think about handing out useful treats instead of candy such as colored pencils, small boxes of crayons, stickers, or other small toys you could find at a local dollar store.

4. Ask trick-or-treaters to give something back to the neighbors who are passing out treats.  Have them pick up any trash or litter they see on sidewalks or in yards as they walk along their trick-or-treat route.

2409-B Brilliant Gold

One of the classics from our recently expanded Pearlescence Solid Color collection.  2409 shown here with the Catalyst finish (B) is an excellent alternative to real brushed metal surfaces as it won't show dents, fingerprints, and smudges.  All Pearlescence items specified with the Catalyst finish are also suitable for high-wear horizontal surfaces.  For more information, visit www.pearlescence.com.
