As the new summer intern, Jean-Baptiste Lescanne (or JB, as he likes to be called) is receiving an education in more than just decorative laminates and real wood veneers. JB is from Nancy, a medium-sized city in the northeast of France. A student at ICN Business School in Nancy, JB studies a broad spectrum of subjects, from economics to marketing.
“For my course plan, I needed to find an internship to apply what we’ve learned at my University,” says JB. “I chose Lamin-Art for a few reasons. First, it is a great example of an American business. I enjoy learning about the day-to-day operations of the company, and the importance of each department.”
A few weeks into his internship, JB has already received plenty of opportunity to experience Lamin-Art, as well as life in Chicagoland. He was able to attend the NeoCon tradeshow this month and explore the unique collection of 50,000 design professionals and more than 700 companies.
“Being able to explore NeoCon, it was a great way to discover new products and understand the marketing and business that goes on during a tradeshow,” says JB. “There were a lot of interesting and innovative products. My favorite was a system of color-changing panels from E*Inc.”
JB is a joy to have at the office, and the rest of his internship is sure to go by too soon. We hope he can continue to learn and explore, and that his experience at Lamin-Art better prepares him for his future career.

What do you like most about working at Lamin-Art?
“I chose Lamin-Art for a few reasons. First, it is a great example of an American business. I enjoy learning about the day-to-day operations of the company, and the importance of each department. Also, it provides me a chance to improve my English. In a world constantly confronted by globalization, knowing English is one of the essential job skills I can have.”
Do you have a favorite product collection?
“I like many Lamin-Art Products, because they all have their own unique characteristics. However, my favorite collection is Metal-Art and my favorite product is Veneer-Art 976 Tropic Zebrawood. They are both very innovative and original.”
What is your favorite thing about living in the United States?
“I like all the American food. I have not tried everything yet, but my favorite place to eat in Chicago is Buffalo Wild Wings. I enjoy all the TV’s inside playing sports. My favorite food in Chicago is the deep-dish pizza. It’s very large, which works for me because I’m a big eater.”
“For fun, I like to hang out with my friends and play rugby or tennis. I also like to listen to music and I’m very interested in sports.”
